Maggie the Part-time Cat
Maggie is our part-time cat.
She's an in-and-out cat of the very soft, furry kind. She's quite young but already very good at inter-species communication. She is all cat.
She "belongs" to our neighbor in the apartment next door and has access to our balcony so she makes herself welcome whenever she wants and she has also learned to meow at our apartment door when she wants to come in.
Ours is a good, friendly patting and snoozing relationship. We never feed her. That is her "bosses" next door job. She's always curious about what we have to eat but never expects to share.
She's a pretty good cat.

Poemito
For today I have a nice poemito for you. I hope you like it. It's called:
Then what shall we do?
Let’s go out and moo!
If we’re asked what we’ve been doing,
We can say that we’ve been mooing!

Who we are.
If you are wondering who the skiing lady in yesterday's blog is--well, it's Tanya, my wife. We are pretty much together in all our activities. I was there at Shasta X-country too. Our great good friend Vickie Lamoreaux invited us to go skiing with her on January 1st of this year and what a wonderful way to start 2008!
Here's a recent photo of me so you'll know who is responsible for this blog.
Thanks. See you tomorrow--good stuff ahead!

The Greek's Word For It
The Greek’s Name For It
The other evening I discovered that the price of having a tooth pulled by a dentist in Sacramento is now $2,000, this amount is nearly my entire salary for about four weeks of hard work. That information reminded me of something I heard a few years ago when I was in ThessalonĂki, Greece, staying in the apartment of my friend Kalogiros.
Kalogiros asked me if we had a special word in English for a person who had the training and the means to help a sick person but would not do so unless he was paid. I thought of all the words I could to describe such a villain but finally told him I didn’t think one such precise word existed in the English language.
“In Greek we have such a word.” he said “‘Doctor’”.
